Our Company History
Southern Coins and Precious Metals (SCPM) is a Louisiana corporation that has been owned and operated by the same family for the last 40 years. We were first located in the historic New Orleans French Quarter. In 1986 we moved to the suburb of Metairie which offers our clients convenient parking, a comfortable, safe atmosphere and private office settings to assure client confidentiality in all trades.
We are experienced professional precious metals dealers and numismatists. SCPM buys and sells gold, silver, platinum and palladium in all forms, from regularly traded bullion coins to scrap gold and sterling silver. If you are an investor or collector of numismatics, you will find that SCPM can assist you whether you are just beginning or an advanced collector.
SCPM is the only coin firm in Louisiana having four of its staff as members of the Professional Numismatists Guild. Three PNG members are located in Metairie. All members of PNG must meet stringent criteria for financial strength and ethical standards. In addition, SCPM is the only Louisiana member of PNG’s Accredited Precious Metals Dealer program. Qualified dealers, if you have a relatively large amount of scrap gold, we have the facilities to do our own in-house gold melts. You are welcome to watch us melt your gold, pour it into bar form and test its purity with our x-ray fluorescent spectrometers to determine the precise purity of your gold.

Meet our Founder: Dennis Daray
Dennis Daray served in the United States Marine Corps as a Sergeant in the Vietnam War.
He started his own company, Southern Coins and
Precious Metals, after his return from the war. Dennis singlehandedly built SCPM
into a very successful enterprise.
His passions included the Marine Corps, baseball, and flying.
